A child's first Indian passport depends on one thing being done first: the birth registered with the High Commission of India or a consulate. If it isn't done yet, we add the registration to the same order and hand both in together.
We prepare Annexure D for both parents to sign, check each signature against your passports and print your child's photographs to the checklist size.

Who it’s for: Children born in the UK whose birth is registered, or being registered, with the High Commission of India
It depends on your circumstances
When you start, we go through these with you.
Registration of birth with the High Commission or a consulate is required before an Indian passport is issued. Already done? Tell us when you start. Not yet? We add it to your order.
RequiredIndia does not allow dual citizenship. A child who is a British citizen applies for OCI instead. If one parent is not Indian, the parents sign a declaration that the child has not acquired another nationality.
Checked firstAnnexure D is signed by both parents, and each signature must match that parent's passport. A single parent uses Annexure C, with an Indian court order for custody.
Signatures must matchUnder 5, a thumb impression in blue or black ink goes in the signature box. From 5, the child writes their own name.
Thumb or nameTatkaal is not available for a first passport until the birth is registered.
