Renewing an Indian passport in the UK involves an online form, a set of annexures, and supporting documents that change with your circumstances: marriage, a change of name or address, an expired passport, or a passport that is lost or damaged.
We work out exactly which forms and documents apply to you, prepare them, print your photographs to the right size and give you a checklist for the visa centre.
- The right annexures and declarations for your case
- Documents checked and ordered before your appointment
- Photographs printed to the checklist size
- Help with name changes, address changes and lapsed passports
Who it’s for: Adult Indian citizens living in the UK
It depends on your circumstances
When you start, we go through these with you.
A passport can be submitted for re-issue up to one year before it expires. Earlier than that, a change of personal particulars or damage are the reasons accepted.
Last year before expiryA passport expired more than a year needs a sworn affidavit, made before a Notary Public or a Passport Officer. Expired more than three years, it also needs a written explanation of the delay.
Extra paperworkEvery married applicant provides a registered marriage certificate and a copy of their spouse's passport, whether or not the name is changing.
All married applicantsPolice verification is carried out in India for every re-issue, so we take a full Indian address where the police may call.
Every re-issueThe passport normally carries an Indian address. A UK address can be printed only where you have no permanent address in India and you hold indefinite leave to remain.
Indian address as standardIndian citizens who acquire another nationality surrender their Indian passport instead of renewing it. Our renunciation and surrender service covers this.
