What we do for you

Changing a child's name on an Indian passport needs both parents' consent and evidence of the new name. Correcting a parent's name shown in the child's passport needs the parent's own Indian passport in the correct name first.

We confirm the exact route with you, prepare the annexures for both parents to sign and check the new name matches across every document.

  • The right route for your child's case
  • Annexures prepared for both parents
  • Signatures checked against both parents' passports
  • Photographs printed to the checklist size

Who it’s for: Children under 18 who hold an Indian passport and live in the UK

Which applies to you?

It depends on your circumstances

When you start, we go through these with you.

Both parents consent

Annexure D is signed by both parents, and each signature must match that parent's passport. A single parent uses Annexure C with an Indian court custody order.

Evidence of the new name

A change of name is published in newspapers or the Gazette of India, with IDs in the new name. We confirm with you exactly what the High Commission will ask for in your child's case.
