What we do for you

A child's Indian passport application turns on the parents: both parents' passports, both signatures on the annexures, and the right document for your family's circumstances, whether married, separated, divorced or with one parent no longer involved.

We work out exactly which annexures apply, prepare them for both parents to sign, and print your child's photographs to the checklist size.

  • Annexures D and E prepared for both parents
  • Signatures checked against both parents' passports
  • The right route for separated, divorced or single-parent families
  • Photographs printed to the checklist size

Who it’s for: Children under 18 who hold an Indian passport and live in the UK, where at least one parent holds an Indian passport

Which applies to you?

It depends on your circumstances

When you start, we go through these with you.

One parent must hold an Indian passport

Re-issue of a child's Indian passport requires at least one parent to hold an Indian passport.

Eligibility
Both parents sign

Annexure D is mandatory for every child and is signed by both parents. Each signature must match that parent's passport.

Signatures must match
When one parent has not given consent

Annexure C covers the recognised circumstances, such as a parent who has died, separation without a custody order, or a court order for sole custody.

Annexure C
How your child signs

Under 5, a thumb impression in blue or black ink goes in the signature box. From 5, the child writes their own name.

Thumb or name
If your child has taken another citizenship

A child who has acquired another nationality surrenders the Indian passport instead of renewing it. Our renunciation and surrender service covers this.
