Replacing an OCI card is an OCI Miscellaneous service with its own documents and fee. We make sure it really is a replacement you need, because a card with wrong details or a new passport to link is a different, cheaper service.
We prepare the online application, help you write the declaration of what happened, and check every document before your appointment.
- The right OCI service chosen for your situation
- Your declaration of circumstances prepared with you
- Old and new passports matched to your OCI record
- Updates until the replacement is ready
Who it’s for: OCI cardholders in the UK whose card is lost, stolen or damaged
It depends on your circumstances
When you start, we go through these with you.
A copy of the police complaint is required for loss, theft and damage alike.
Police reportYou also sign a short letter explaining how the card was lost or damaged. It goes with the police report, not instead of it.
DeclarationThese are different OCI services with different fees. Linking a new passport is often free. Tell us and we'll move you to the right one.

Lost or damaged OCI — quick answers
Do I need a police report if my card is only damaged?
Yes. The government asks for a copy of the police complaint for theft, loss and damage.
How long does a replacement take?
Allow 8 to 10 weeks after your appointment. The Ministry of Home Affairs says a re-issue is ordinarily decided within one month of acknowledgement.
My card isn't lost, but the details are wrong. Is this the right service?
No. Correcting details is a different OCI service. Tell us when you start and we'll arrange the right one.
Do I need my old passport?
Yes, if you can. The OCI is linked to the passport it was issued against, so both old and new passports are needed.
